DARKNESS IN NOON – diploma thesis in the factory

Zsolt Ecsedi, a graduate student of sculpture at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, applied to us with a special plan. He asked for our help in burning a 5 mm thick steel plate. The seemingly crazy idea later made sense when the operation took place on April 18 in our workshop in Kecskemét. The young sculptor tore down the door-to-door plate line by line with a hand-held plasma device and burned it out meanwhile, the whole process was filmed and photographed. To make the experiment go as planned, the windows of the building were covered with black agrofoil to provide complete darkness for photographing the spectacular spark streams. Then the real purpose of the performance was revealed, the cut-out record had Zsolt Ecsedi's own contour, we can say: the artist transcended into steel. The sculpture made in this way, and the films and photos too were presented as an edited whole in the exhibition hall of the MKE Epreskert  at the exhibition of the diploma works.
